Krungthep
The Chao Phraya river flows through the middle of Bangkok to the sea not far away.
Not long ago, it was connected to many more canals in the city, many of which have unfortunately been filled in for roads which try to cope with the city's burgeoning trafiic,.
But the heart of our city is to be found near the river. Lucky residents live, perched precariously on its banks and in houses on stilts in the flowing water. Others have their cabins on large barges that are towed to and from the port, laden with sand or rice, or floating empty, high and dry.
    Our beloved Chao Phraya.
